Freelance Designers Wanted

Metro Pins is always looking for freelance designers!  We make custom items year round.  We can handle our business volume until our busiest season gets here.  Then we could use your assistance!  Our busiest time of year is May through July.  Pins take about an hour to design, sometimes less, once you are proficient.  We'll email you the requirement/request and when finished, you'll email back the artwork and the pin design.  There may be followup change requests by the customer.

Requirements:  Graphics arts design experience.  Experience with Adobe Illustrator is preferred.  Clip art can be made available to you for your use in designing pins - but this clip art is licensed solely to Metro Pins.  We are expecting no more than 24 hour turnaround (same day preferred though) unless otherwise specified or agreed upon - we must respond very quickly to our customers.  If you take two days to send us back a design in the middle of trading pin season - you probably won't get a lot of designs sent your way.  See what some finished design work looks like.  (resized for display)

Ownership:  The pin designs will ultimately be owned by the customers.  Metro Pins will be able to utilize them for promotional uses or derivative works.  As the artist, you will also be able to include them in your personal portfolio, but not otherwise use them.  The pin designs are ultimately copyrighted works purchased by the customer.  You will be asked to sign a basic Non-Compete Agreement.

Compensation:  As a Metro Pins designer, you will be paid $25 for each pin you design and an additional $25 for each pin purchased by the customer.  We currently have an 80% order rate - you could expect to sell four of every five pins you design, if you maintain that rate.  Of course your order rate will directly impact your compensation rate.  The higher the better.  If your order rate is low, your designs become unimaginative, cookie-cutter, overly-repetitive or boring, or your work no longer represents the work you demonstrated when initially coming on board, we will discuss it with you and may ultimately elect not send you pins to design any more.  If your order rate is high and your pins are hot - we will send you all the pins you can probably handle!  One of our credos is, "Don't settle for the same old pins!".  It's easy to crank out a couple dozen pin designs in a day, if they're all ballfields over crossed bats with a stylized team name and a baseball.  We definitely don't want that from you.  We want unique exciting pins that will be good traders.  Good traders are what we want to give our clients.

Ideal Designer:  You already have a job or do contract work regularly.  You are looking for additional freelance work.  You may work from home.  You may work in any location and at any time of the day you wish.  You are reliable and easy to work with.  Your 'pride in authorship' is reflected in all your work, but doesn't get in the way when a customer doesn't like something or wants a change.  You are responsive when you receive requests and turn them around very quickly.  We can control the number of pin requests you receive - if you happen to have a busy week going - just tell us and we'll throttle back the number of pins we send you. Haven't done this before? So what! We've got t-shirt artists, graphics designers, even tattoo artists that make pins for us! Give it a try.

So what do you think?  Want to make some extra money for some fun work?  Get in touch with us to send some sample artwork and design a sample pin.
