Artwork Requirements for Your Custom Products

Artwork and file requirements that help ensure the highest quality customized products:

Artwork quality is an important part of making sure your order is accurate and contributes to a great end product. Without question, the best type of artwork is vector artwork. These files can be scaled up or down to any size. The details & lines within true vector artwork are always sharp & crisp, regardless of the size. Vector images are drawn/rendered with mathematical formulas that establish points/lines on a grid and they can be increased or reduced in size without losing quality. To ensure no issues with text, all fonts within a vector art file should be converted to outlines/curves.

VECTOR ART FILE - the preferred & most ideal types of art files:

  • .AI - Adobe Illustrator file
  • .CDR - CorelDRAW file
  • .EPS - Encapsulated Postcript file
  • .PDF - Portable Document Format (by Adobe)
  • .SVG - Scalable Vector Graphics

RASTER ART FILE - acceptable, but often less ideal types of art files:

  • .JPG - Most common type of raster/bitmap file (aka, .JPEG)
  • .PNG, .GIF, .WEBP, .BMP - Other types of raster/bitmap files
  • .PSD - Photoshop file (do not flatten or merge layers)
  • .DOC, .PPT, etc - 3rd party files that could contain embedded raster/bitmap files

LOW QUALITY & UNACCEPTABLE art file examples:

  • A photograph of your logo/artwork on a shirt, banner or piece of paper.
  • A photograph of a computer or phone screen, showing an image of the actual artwork.
  • Low resolution raster files where significant pixelation is visible when view at 100% size.
  • Hand drawing of a logo, when an actual art file is attainable.

COLOR NOTES:

  • If your logo or artwork uses specific Pantone (PMS) colors, please provide those PMS numbers.
  • Printed items (like photoscreen pins & banners) use CMYK-color printing process, not RGB.
  • If you want a specific color (e.g., 'royal blue', 'maroon', 'forest green', etc.), pick it here.
  • To ensure color consistency, order everything you need in a single batch. It's cheaper and avoids any chance of batch-to-batch inconsistency. Say you need 500 employee pins over the next year... ordering 100 pieces FIVE times may result in minor color variation, whereas one order of 500 pieces will not.
  • For colored enamel items (like pins, coins, medals, etc.) & screen prints decoration, if you provide us with RGB, CMYK or HTML color codes, we will select Pantone (PMS color) that WE think are close to your provided color codes. YOU should provide specific PMS colors in these cases.
  • Artwork proof colors may appear different from actual product depending upon screen resolution, monitor settings, phone/computer brightness, etc. Color prints of artwork proofs may also appear different from actual product due to color printer variations. FOR EXACT COLOR MATCH, please provide Pantone (PMS) color numbers. Pick enamel colors here
  • For embroidered items like patches, if you provide us with RGB, CMYK, HTML or Pantone (PMS) color codes, we will select the thread color(s) that WE think are close to your provided color codes. YOU should provide specific thread colors in these cases. Those thread colors are found here.
